Mohamed Al Fayed Abuse Investigation: Three Women Questioned

London police have questioned three women as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged crimes committed by the late Mohamed Al Fayed, the long-term owner of luxury department store Harrods and former owner of Fulham FC. The suspects, aged between 40 and 69, were interviewed under caution on suspicion of various offenses, including complicity in rape, sexual assault, and human trafficking for sexual exploitation, the Metropolitan Police confirmed. No arrests were made in connection with these interviews. This development marks a significant step in the high-profile inquiry that has garnered national attention.

Mohamed Al Fayed, who passed away in 2023, faced numerous allegations of sexual violence from multiple women during his lifetime. Many of the alleged victims were reportedly employees of his businesses. Al Fayed was also known for his son Dodi’s relationship with Princess Diana, both of whom tragically died in a 1997 car accident in Paris. The current investigation follows previous complaints against Al Fayed; between 2005 and his death, 21 women reported him, but no legal proceedings were initiated in any of those cases.

The Metropolitan Police has described this as “one of the largest and most complex investigations” currently underway. The inquiry continues to identify individuals who may have enabled or supported Al Fayed’s alleged criminal activities. To date, 154 individuals have come forward, reporting a wide range of allegations including sexual assault, rape, sexual exploitation, and human trafficking. The sheer volume of reported incidents underscores the widespread nature of the alleged misconduct and the extensive scope of the police’s task.

Commander Angela Craggs of the Metropolitan Police emphasized that “the victims remain at the heart of this investigation.” She reiterated the police’s unwavering determination to hold anyone suspected of involvement in the alleged crimes accountable, even though Al Fayed himself is deceased and can no longer face criminal prosecution. The current extensive investigation was launched following revelations and research conducted by the BBC, bringing renewed focus and resources to these long-standing allegations.
